4/6/2023 0 Comments Thunderbird 68![]() Refer to this Calendar troubleshooting article in case of problems. ![]() If you have installed Lightning, Thunderbird's calendar add-on, it will automatically be updated to match the new version of Thunderbird. Not a good start. Thunderbird version 68.7.0 provides an automatic update from Thunderbird version 60. Monday morning and unable to organise my working week. It didn't seem to do much - in fact, I think it crashed because the program disappeared from view, though when I restarted it, Lightning was ticked as if it were installed. I closed TB and tried Add/Remove programs and saw a 'transitional package' (whatever that is) for Lightning and tried to install it. Move the uncompressed Thunderbird folder to /opt : mv thunderbird /opt 5. Extract the contents of the downloaded file by typing: tar xjf 2 4. Open a terminal and go to the folder where your download has been saved. Another help page directs me to Settings, but the pictures are of the settings from back before the big Firefox Quantum changes (if I can call them that) and Calendar options are absent. The Addons page finds it, but says it is incompatible with my version of Thunderbird (78.4) and a bit of Googling reveals that Lightning is built into TB78 so it should be complete.Ĭonsulting the help pages (with Thunderbird 78 in the drop-down) suggests creating a new event by pointing to File > New > Event, but Event is missing. Next I needed to consult my calendar (which is in Google) so tried to find Lightning. ![]() What's the point of that, other than wasting my time? ![]() Had to use 'Add/Remove Software' as 'Recommended Software' seems to have just two programs that aren't installed already. I started by installing Thunderbird and configuring my main email account. The challenge is to use it as my main 'office 'computer for an entire week.
